Le Click requires little to no maintenance, however if left untreated the teak wood gradually weathers to adopt an attractive silvery gray ‘patina’. The rate of this natural process is affected by the intensity of the elements the teak is exposed to. Teak can be left in its natural state or revived to a warm honey glow with a light sanding and application of teak oil.*

If you wish to retain the natural pigments of the timber, it is recommended to clean, dry, sand and apply teak oil to the exposed surfaces as needed.

  • Use a non-abrasive brush and wash the wood with a mild soap and warm water. This will remove surface dirt and some of the oxidation on the surface of the wood. Let stand overnight.
  • The following day, lightly sand in the direction of the wood grain with extra fine sand paper (320 grit). The sanding will reveal the true color of the wood underneath.
  • Once the wood is sanded use a dry cotton cloth to remove any residual sanding dust. The wood MUST be clean and dry prior to the application of any finishing products.
  • With a clean paintbrush apply a light and even coat of teak oil to the wood. Allow at least one hour between coats to give the teak time to absorb the oil. Apply coats until desired color is attained.
  • To avoid the periodic deep cleaning cycle prior to the application of teak oil one can opt to initially treat the wood with a clear sealer and apply the teak oil directly to the surface as needed.

*Application of teak oil or sealer is completely optional and is not necessary to protect the wood. Products are used for cosmetic reasons only.
